FOR CUSTOMERS AND DONORS:
How do donations work?
Simply bring your goods to GOODSanew Meaningful Mercantile. You can donate specifically to one of 25-50 local non-profit organizations that align with our Core Values. We process and sell that donation for your chosen organization and forward the proceeds to them for funding. We also offer consignment terms on some select items. After the sale on these goods, 50% will go back to the donor and 50% will go to the local non-profit partner organization of their choice, after expenses. Better quality donations and consignments will have the most impact for your chosen organization, so bring your best stuff!
Is GOODSanew a non-profit?
GOODSanew is currently seeking status as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. . Every penny above and beyond operating costs goes to our local non-profit partner organizations. All aspects of our donation processing business is 100% transparent to the nonprofit organization partners that we service and the community in general. Our goal in this endeavor is to support our community by fostering our Core Values. To maintain a unique and desirable product mix GOODSanew also curates specific goods to give the shop a "thrift boutique" vibe. These curated goods will be consigned. Having this product mix promotes higher quality donations and a shopping experience that enhances the benefit to our nonprofit organization partners.
What kinds of donations do you accept?
GOODSanew Meaningful Marketplace is not your ordinary thrift store. We do not stock or sell items that are stained, dirty, or otherwise damaged. Ordinary household goods will need to have something unique about them or be very high quality for us to put in the mercantile. This holds true for electronics and other "useful" goods as well. We love antique, vintage and designer goods as these items have the greatest impact for our nonprofit partner organizations. We love all kinds of art, music and media. We accept most clothing as long as it is clean, damage-free, and either in-style or vintage. Please contact us ahead of time before bringing large pieces of furniture. These goods are space-dependent. When in doubt, bring it in, if we cannot accept it we will guide you to another local worthwhile organization that will accept your donation.
When I buy something, how do I know what organization I am supporting?
All of our tags have a code that corresponds to the organization that owns that item. We keep this list posted at the register and are happy to help you with this while shopping.
Where are you located? I can't find your store?
So glad you asked! We are currently searching for a location and asking for your assistance so we can get this off the ground and start helping our community today! We have everything we need to get up and running we just need to secure a suitable location. Please visit our GoFundMe and give what you can. We consider this a community effort and every dollar helps!
FOR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS:
How does it work?
Your organization simply encourages your supporters to donate items to your organization by bringing them to GOODSanew. We will process these donations under your organization’s account and place them for sale in the store.
Once GOODSanew’s operating expenses are met, your organization will receive the entire balance of what was sold in that quarter under your organization’s account in the form of a grant. Equitable grant amounts will be distributed among partner community organizations equivalent to what was sold by that organization during that quarter.
EXAMPLE: Org A sold $6000 worth of donated goods in the last quarter. Org B sold $4000 during the same period. All other Orgs together sold $60000 in donated goods during the quarter. Therefore GOODSanew had $70,000 total sales for the quarter. Operating costs (rent, labor, utilities, etc) for the quarter were $35,000.
Sales minus costs equals net funding profit = $35000.
At $6000, Org A contributed 8.6% to sales (6000 is 8.6% of 70000)
At $4000, Org B contributed 5.7% to sales (4000 is 5.7% of 70000)
Org A will receive $3010 (8.6% of $35000)
Org B will receive $1995 (5.7% off $35000)

Is GOODSanew a non-profit?
GOODSanew is currently seeking 501(c)3 designation by the IRS. GOODSanew prides itself on transparency; this is a community project and we view it as such. Full financial disclosure to our non-profit community partners is an important part of that transparency.
How will GOODSanew track our sales?
At the end of each quarter (after April 1st, July 1st, October 1st, and January 1st), your organization will receive a full accounting of all sales your organization made during the quarter.
Also, you will receive a summary of sales for all organizations so you can see how your organization is doing compared to your peers. Finally, you will receive a breakdown of business operating costs for the previous quarter, explaining how the administrative portion of your donation proceeds is being spent. Transparency in this is paramount to our mission!
What types of goods will be donated/sold?
GOODSanew is not just a thrift store, it is a resale boutique. Our objective is for GOODSanew to have a little something for everyone but to be skewed towards upscale/vintage/antiques. GOODSanew will have a clean, comfortable atmosphere where all shoppers are welcome and feel welcomed! GOODSanew will also curate specific goods by offering consignment to select donors. After the sale, the donor keeps half and the other half goes to the local partner organization of their choice. Continually promoting in-kind donations throughout your organization is how GOODSanew can make the biggest difference for your organization turning those donations into critical program funding!
Can my organization do this? What about IRS reporting?
What you receive from GOODSanew each quarter will essentially be a grant. While it is expected that our quarterly reporting will provide you with what you need, we encourage you to check with your tax accountant. If your organization requires additional reporting please let us know and we will do our best to comply!
What other organizations will GOODSanew benefit?
We have fostered partnerships with 25-50 local non-profit organizations currently. We have identified all of these organizations as aligning with our Mission and our Core Values. This list is subject to change.
What are the next steps?
There is very little for you to do. I will be calling soon to discuss with you and answer any questions you may have. At that time I will also ask for permission to use your organization's logo to solicit in-kind donations for your organization. We will also need the EIN number for (organization name) so we can distribute funds at the end of each quarter. GOODSanew would love the opportunity to turn those donations into important program funding for your organization!
Where is the store?
As of this time we are searching for a suitable location so we can begin operating. We have most everything else we need! Please feel free to share our GoFundMe as we raise funds to find the perfect spot! If you are aware of suitable available location possibilities please don't hesitate to pass those along. The sooner we raise funding for, and secure, a suitable location the sooner GOODSanew can start making a difference for your organization! It’s that simple!
